... with some friends. Didn't even plan on doing him last night, we wanted to do some heroics, but all the Outland instances were bugged and could not be entered. So we decided instead to do the Horseman. As all 5 of us had not yet done him, we could summon him the full 5 times. The 4th time, The Horseman's Reins dropped. We all rolled need, and I won! Talk about lucky, first I got lucky the item even dropped, then I got lucky by winning it. Soon after I had the ...

Malsorian - Warlock —
... Over the weekend, I managed to get my first Feat of Strength. I won a roll for The Horseman's Reins. My understanding is that the drop rate for the Headless Horseman's Reins is pretty low. But, I joined a party Saturday morning to have a go around of summoning. It dropped on the first kill and I won the roll. And then, it dropped again, on the second kill. ...
Hallow’s End and the Headless Horseman

... The Horseman’s Reins . Woot! Major Congratulations Ent! I was so pleased Ent won the roll :) Not only is he our awesome guild master, but he has been going all out to get the achievements, and also to get a rare mount. (Obtaining this mount gives a Feat of Strength achievement.) He has been paying the Baron in Scholomance a visit almost every day, for a while now, trying to score that uber rare mount. But this one’s even better - it flies!

I Haz Headless Horseman Mount!

... The best thing about the [The Horseman's Reins] is that it functions like this year’s broom mounts. It scales according to your riding level. So if you have the skill to ride flying mounts, so will the horse!! ...

Forever a Noob —
... I finally got around to doing some of the holiday events last night. I hadn’t tried the Headless Horseman yet this year. A group of us rode up to Scarlet Monastery and took him down five times in short order.
In those five kills, we got the the Magic Broom, the Sinister Squashling pet, and the Horseman’s Reins! Lucky us!
I got the Magic Broom out of it. I’m disappointed that it only lasts 14 days… I thought they were changing that this time around.

... my Paladin and my Warlock. Not exactly useful for my Hunter. But I keep trick or treating, praying my Hallowed Helm luck will strike one more time, and in the meantime admire how badass my Warlock looks with a pumpkin head.
How goes your achievement hunt? Do you have one or two Hallow's End Achievements that just keep eluding you? For that matter, how's your luck on the Headless Horseman? I know that despite having done a run a day on him, I have yet to see a sword, a horse, or a flying broom, so I'm interested to find if anyone is seeing those in ...

... with some funny on-use effects. I had wondered how they would deal with this holiday, the first of the revamped, when it came to this year - many people are well geared and we’re close to the new expansion. Would it be more or less challenging? Would they keep the same format?
Well, it seems that for the most part the event for this year is very much the same but with the addition of some new loot - [The Horseman's Blade] and [The Horseman's Reins]!

... from the Netherwing faction, I was excited. Two days later, I went back to using my Gryphon Mount because that Netherdrake was taking up my entire screen while I was flying. The Bronze Drake is a nice medium size mount which doesn’t take up too much screen. I can see myself going back to my Headless Horseman mount in a few weeks though. ...

Will You Get The Horseman’s Reins This Year?
The Instance! World of Warcraft Podcast —
... That’s a very rare mount, and one of the least likely to obtain. Players who are trying to fly in headless style are up against these odds: the mount is a 1% drop chance, from a (very easy) 5-man boss, that each person in the party can pull separately once per day. So you can participate in as many pulls per day as people are willing to share with you, but you’ll have to roll against the others in the party if it drops. And if you do five pulls per day for all 14 days of Hallow’s End, you still only have a 70% chance of seeing it drop. Once. ...

... The one thing they have done is that there's The Horseman's Reins. So, you could pretty easily be in a group with 4 people that are only going for the mount and not the achievement items. And that one? Oh yeah... it's a huge 0.4% drop rate. At least Coren with his Ram and Kodo had a 3.3% chance to drop one of the mounts. ...
