BigRedKitty: Heart of the Phoenix and Lick Your Wounds
WoW.com — ... Daniel Howell contributes BigRedKitty, a column with strategies, tips and tricks for and about the Hunter class, sprinkled with a healthy dose of completely improper, sometimes libelous, personal commentary. You didn't really think we'd just give you a pot-stirring post today, did you? /oh behave! Ferocity pets are built for DPS, but they have two of the most powerful pet-healing spells we have: Heart of the Phoenix and Lick Your Wounds. Two big problems with our pets right now is that we have ...

BigRedKitty — ... talent, so probably not. Spirit Bond? Maybe, extra heals is never a bad thing. Another point in Improved Mend Pet is never a bad idea. Pathfinding would be different, since when we fly places we can’t use a speed-boost trinket anymore. And the extra boost to Aspect of the Pack would make the timed event in Culling of Stratholm a tiny bit easier. Improved Revive Pet seems moot now that we have Heart of the Phoenix. Endurance Training doesn’t seem to be a better choice ...

[the hunter that tamed a druid] — ... Never mind, the Emblems will be mine! Yoink! Still tweaking with level cap talents, currently one point in Go for the Throat and one in Rapid Killing which may switch to both in GftT since her current crit rate is quite low and the super-low Bestial Wrath cooldown with full Efficiency is working wonders for mana conservation. The Lich King overhaul for hunters opens up all kinds of questions for the talents though. With Lick Your Wounds and Heart Of The Phoenix on my instance/raid kitty, are two points in Improved Mend Pat ...

The Hunter's Mark — ... is the plunderers bread and butter.  If you keep your distance, the tank will be taking most of Ingvar’s crap.  If Ingvar gets a little too close for comfort during his screaming fit, duck behind a pillar.  I tend to send my pet in after tanky has established a lion’s share of the threat. As a survival hunter, I only cry on the inside if my loyal companion dies.  Once Ingvar’s human guise is defeated, I’ll cast my “please oh please don’t ever leave me again” spell and get myself mana’d up for the ...

10 Hunter Macros You Shouldn’t Play Without
The Hunter's Mark — ... If you don’t have a pet, press CTRL to tame your target as your pet. If you’re in combat (and your pet has Heart of the Phoenix – otherwise, leave this line out), cast Heart of the Phoenix. If you don’t have a pet out, it will call your pet, or if your pet is dead it will Revive it. It will also Mend your pet (and has a built in timer so you don’t overlap mends), or SHIFT-clicking the macro will dismiss your pet. ...

steady shot — ... to make up the difference.  For my wolf I decided to take Heart of the Phoenix .  I was going with a pure DPS talent instead, but on further reflection I decided I had the wolf there for the AP boost to me from furious howl, something he couldn’t do if dead, and that there are a number of fights where it is very hard to keep your pet alive for the entire fight (Heigan, Sappharion, Kel’Thuzad).  It turned out to be a good choice when poor Hamfast hit the dirt on Anub’Rekhan.   I tried out the shot rotation as I reported in my ...

Aspect of the Hare — ... in your average raid or heroic. Of course, there are adjustments you can make if you are solo’ing or leveling and would rather pick up, say, the stamina or healy-type talents. But honestly, Heart of the Phoenix never once worked for me anyway, so I didn’t really have a problem with ditching it… >.> ...

Part II – The Plague Quarter for Hunters and DPS
steady shot — ... off the platform.  I have found it better to regen mana and concentrate on staying alive during the run.  There is no enrage timer on this fight, we have finished Heigan off with just me, a tank and two healers before. Managing your pet in Heigan fight: This is one of the most pet unfriendly fights I know.  Perhaps readers know some better trick, or are just better at it than I am, but my pet dies just about every time.  A couple of suggestions though.  I have taken the pet talent Heart of the Phoenix for this and a couple of other pet unsafe fights.  That gives your pet a ...

My Survival Guide to Surviving in PvP as a Survival Hunter: Part One
HuntsmansLodge.com | A World of Warcraft Hunter Site — ... I'm going to advise against Ferocity pets because they're just too squishy. Although their DPS is good, a dead Ferocity pet puts out a lot less damage than a live hardy, tanky specced Tenacity pet would. Heart of the Phoenix is somewhat of an answer to the problem, but you have to sacrifice DPS in order to get it. Also, Ferocity doesn't have Roar of Sacrifice, which is pretty necessary for PvP in my opinion. Overall, Cunning and Tenacity just offer a better arsenal of talents as far as level 80 PvP is concerned. ...

World of Warcraft Pro - Brings Game Experience to You! — ... Cobra Reflexes , 1 point Dash Increased attack speed, overall you will do more damage. Dash will get you to the fight faster, but is really a placeholder. If you want to take something else in the first level, do it. Levels 32, 36, 40: 3 points Spiked Collar More Damage, need I say more. Levels 44, 48: 2 points Bloodthirsty The Healing will keep your pet alive longer. Level 52: 1 point Avoidance Avoid AoE Damage, good. Level 56: 1 point Heart of the Phoenix Free rez to full health, take it. 4 Bonus Points: 1 points ...

When Your Guild breaks Your Heart
destructivereach.com 7/22/2009 — It’s easy to say WoW is just a game.  That we should just do what we want to do, because that’s what we pay for.  That the relationships we build are ultimately shallow and easily forgotten when we move on to other ventures. Well, it’s all bullshit. It’s no secret I have been ...
