This is a guest post by Lodur
Hello everybody! Lodur, resto shaman from Zul’jin here again. I was running heroic Violet Hold last night when a hiccup with a player and Zuramat the Obliterator almost caused the group to wipe (lag + lots of little adds = low health for everyone). ...

What type of healer are you?
Life in Azeroth —
I came across this post over at Matticus' fine healer blog. Based on the signs I could fall under 4 of the 5 archetypes in my healing career. I think in the beginning I could identify with Hero Complex. I'm not sure what came first for me the Reluctant Healer or the Ex-Healer. And now I think I most closely identify with the Average Gamer. I've never had the God Complex and this is written with such extremes I doubt many players have. Healers may be rare but they aren't that rare where other ...

Archetypes of a Guild: The Guild Princess
World of Matticus —
Some of you may remember my article about the 5 Archetypes of Healers back when I was still a guest poster here.
I was watching a conversation on twitter between a few of my friends and it got me thinking. Like every social clique a Guild has certain roles or social archetypes that people can be categorized as. This post series will explore some of the more common ones you may encounter in your travels through MMOs, as well as offer suggestions on how to deal with some of the less savory. These posts come from a request made by Valkrierisen ...

What makes a good healer in WOW?
holypaladin.net 7/5/2009 — If you check out the official World of Warcraft forums, you’ll find a lot of discussion about which healer is the best in different situations and about how changes to our class affects our ability to heal. At the basis of this discussion is the underlying question of what exactly makes ...
A Healer’s Most Important Skill
worldofmatticus.com 3/18/2009 —
It amazes me to no end how many healers still have trouble grasping this concept.
It’s not so much about covering as many people as possible. Nor is it about conserving your mana and knowing when to regenerate. Moving around and avoiding f ...

Shock. Frustration. Anger. Despair.
Before last week, these are words I never would have connected to my experience with World of Matticus, either as a writer or a reader. However, last week Lodur’s article on guild Egoists just left me cold. I’ve invoked these four words to ...

burningsea.com 11/25/2008 — 11/24/2008 | HighLevelMob? | Discuss The avatar combat revision gave ConCo a really good opportunity to give a bit of a makeover to what NPCs could do. In the previous version of avatar combat, much of the strategy came from reducing your enemies’ ...
Why play a healer?
bookofgrudges.wordpress.com 10/16/2008 — – What in heaven’s name made you decide to play a healer?
– My health. I picked this class for its survivability.
– Survivability? What survivability? You’re always the first target.
– I was misinformed.

Capture the healer
bookofgrudges.wordpress.com 10/10/2008 — Inspired by a long and fevered discussion on Teamspeak, and also by watching how people play from my vantage point as a healer:
So, when you’re in a scenario (and we’ll stick to scenarios right now, as keep and open field is a little ...
WAR: When is it OK to tell your healer that he sucks?
slashrandom.wordpress.com 11/13/2008 — I think I’ve admitted here in the past that I’m not a great healer. My main character in Warhammer is an Archmage, currently about 90% through level 28. I run a lot of scenarios, and manage to win quite a few, and manage to do fairly ...

I Fail As A Healer
tree-of-doom.com 10/17/2009 — Adjusting to healing took me such a long time, and you know, I am sure that I do not do the right thing at all. See, on my Warlock, and to a lesser extent, when I used to tank on my Druid, is was all about the clear cut rotations. You know, the ...
